Did you know that as part of your employment in Singapore, a small contribution is made to support your respective community? This is called the Self-Help Group (SHG) contribution, and it’s something all employees are automatically included in.
What Is the SHG Contribution?
The SHG contribution is a small deduction from your salary each month that goes towards helping different ethnic self-help groups in Singapore, including:
• CDAC (Chinese Development Assistance Council or 华社自助理事会
• SINDA (Singapore Indian Development Association)
• MENDAKI (Council for the Development of Singapore Malay/Muslim Community)
These groups use the contributions to run programs and provide support to their communities. It’s a simple but meaningful way to give back.
Can You Opt Out?
If you don’t want to make this contribution, no problem—you can opt out. All you need to do is fill out an opt-out form.
You can download the form here –

After filling it out, just send it back to us if you’re employed by us, and we’ll handle the rest.
Why Does This Matter?
Even though the contributions are small, they go a long way in supporting education, financial assistance, and community programs. It’s a way for all of us to play a part in building a better future for everyone.
